Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin E. Dempsey testify at a hearing before the Senate Committee on Appropriations, subcommittee for Defense concerning the fiscal year 2013 budget at 10:30 a.m. EDT, in room 192, at the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta hosts an honor cordon to welcome South Korea's Minister of National Defense Kim Kwan-jin to the Pentagon at 6:30 p.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Parking Pedestrian Bridge only.  Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton B. Carter has no public or media events on his schedule.

Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Logistics Terry Yonkers, and Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment Katherine Hammack deliver opening remarks to kick off the 2012 Army/Air Force Renewable Energy Industry Day at 8:30 a.m. EDT at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, Crystal City, Va.  There will be a joint media roundtable at the Pentagon to highlight topics covered at the industry day.  Journalists interested in attending may contact Tonya Racasner at 703-697-1460.

Vice Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Lloyd J.
