Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld is in Washington. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz hosts an honor cordon to welcome His Excellency Chris Murungaru Minister of State for Provincial Administration and National Security of Kenya to the Pentagon at 6 p.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 5:30 p.m. EDT for escort to the cordon.

Dr. William Winkenwerder, Jr., assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, will discuss the success and safety of the Department of Defense's experience with vaccinating large numbers of people at 1 p.m. EDT. The press conference will be held in the National Press Club's First Amendment Room. See press advisory for details.
