Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates is traveling.

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn will conduct a press briefing on the Defense Department's initiatives to reduce overhead and improve efficiencies at 9:30 a.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.

Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen will hold an All Hands Call with junior enlisted soldiers at Fort Benning, Ga., at 8:15 a.m. EST at the Sand Hill Recreation Center.  Media who wish to attend this event should call the Public Affairs Office at 706-545-2237 or 706-905-1647.

Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, U.S. Forces - Iraq commanding general, will brief the media at 1 p.m. EDT, June 4, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973.  Odierno will provide an update on ongoing security operations in Iraq, and discuss the evolving relationship between U.S. and Iraqi forces.
