Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and hosts an honor cordon to welcome Guatemala’s Minister of Defense Maj. Gen. Ronaldo Cecilio Leivato the Pentagon today at 11 a.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 10:30 a.m. EDT for escort to the cordon.
 
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates hosts an honor cordon to welcome Poland’s Minister of National Defense Aleksander Szczyglo to the Pentagon today at 5 p.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 4:30 p.m. EDT for escort to the cordon. 
 
Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England has no public or media events on his schedule.
 
U.K. Army Lt. Gen. Graeme Lamb, deputy commander of Multi-National Force-Iraq and senior British representative in Iraq, will brief live from Iraq at 9 a.m. EDT, July 16, in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon 2E579, with an update on operations in Iraq.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.   Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.   Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
