Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld is in Washington today. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz testifies today on the fiscal year 2002 budget before the Senate Budget Committee. See the Congressional schedule of events for details.

The next regular Department of Defense news briefing will be conducted tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing room, Pentagon 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is visiting Qatar, Oman and India through July 20. See the press advisory for details.
