Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates is traveling. 

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn hosts an honor cordon to welcome the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister David Cameron to the Pentagon today at 9:30 a.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

Assistant Director for Accession Policy Robert E. Clark testifies at a hearing of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs on the G.I. Bill at 9:30 a.m. EDT in room 418, Russell Senate Office Building.
 
Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, U.S. Forces – Iraq commanding general, will brief the media at 10 a.m. EDT, July 21, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973.  Odierno will provide an update on the responsible drawdown of forces and discuss the upcoming change-of-mission for troops serving in Iraq.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.

Senior Executive Director, Traumatic Brain Injury Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological, Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Katherine M. Helmick testifies at a hearing of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs on innovative treatments for traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder at 10 a.m. EDT in room 334, Cannon House Office Building.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counternarcotics and Global Threats William F. Wechsler testifies at a hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on illicit drugs interdiction at 10 a.m. EDT in room 2247, Rayburn House Office Building.

British Army Maj. Gen. Nick Carter, commanding general for Regional Command  South, will brief the media live from Afghanistan at 11 a.m. EDT, July 21, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E973.  Carter will provide an update on current operations.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.
