Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen is in Washington. At 10 a.m. today Secretary Cohen hosts a full honor arrival ceremony at the Pentagon for the president of Switzerland. A media availability will follow at 10:45 a.m. See the press advisory for details.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon is in Washington. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

Joint Warrior Interoperability Demonstration 2000 ends today. See the news release for details.

The Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services is visiting military commands and meeting with servicemembers in Italy, Spain, Germany, Jordan and Kosovo through July 29. See the news release for details.

Cornerstone 00-1, a combined engineering exercise with Moldova, continues through late August. See the news release for details.

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE COMMITS SOLDIERS, AIRMEN, ASSETS FOR WILDFIRE SUPPRESSION, PUBLIC SAFETY More than 300 Army, National Guard and Air Force Reserve soldiers and airmen have been mustered with aviation and ground equipment to help federal and local firefighters and law enforcement officials in several western states to suppress fires and support public safety.
