Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta hosts an honor cordon to welcome Israel’s Minister of Defense Ehud Barak to the Pentagon today at 2 p.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call 703-697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn has no public or media events on his schedule.

Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) Robert Hale and Deputy Chief Management Officer Beth McGrath testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee on DoD’s plans for financial management improvement and achieving audit readiness at 8 a.m. EDT in room 2212, Rayburn House Office Building.

The Senate Armed Services Committee considers the nominations of Navy Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert for reappointment to the grade of admiral and to be Chief of Naval Operations and Army Lt. Gen. Charles H. Jacoby Jr. to be appointed to the grade of general and to be commander, United States Northern Command/commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command at 9:30 a.m. EDT in room SD-106, Dirksen Senate Office Building.

A National Capital Region flyover of Arlington National Cemetery occurs at 1:50 p.m. EDT with four F/A-18C’s.
