Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld is in Washington. There are no public or media events on his calendar.
Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz will appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at 9:30 a.m. at the Senate Dirkson Building in room 106. The subject of the hearing is, Iraq: Status and Prospects for Reconstruction - Resources. Also appearing before the committee will be OMB Director, Joshua Bolten and Acting Army Chief of Staff, General John Keane.
Lawrence Di Rita, special assistant to the Secretary of Defense, and Lt. Gen. Norton Schwartz, director for operations, J-3, Joint Staff, will conduct a briefing at 1 p.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781 to discuss recent OIF operations. Media representatives who do not have a Pentagon building pass and wish to cover this event should arrive at the Pentagon's North Parking Entrance at 12:30 p.m. for an escort. Media without a Pentagon building pass must have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.
