Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon are on leave. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

There will be no regularly scheduled DoD news briefing until Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Nearly 4,600 servicemembers are now helping to fight wildfires in the West. See news release for details.

Millennium Challenge 2000, the armed forces' first joint field experiment, continues through Sept. 13 at various locations in the U.S. See the news release for details.

Cornerstone 00-2, a combined engineering exercise with Moldova, continues through Sept. 16. See the news release for details.
