Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon are in Washington today. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

More than 1,000 soldiers and Marines are en route or already helping to fight wildfires in the West. See the news release for details.

Army Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is visiting California and Missouri through Aug. 5. See the press advisory for details.

The Navy guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) is visiting Qingdao, People's Republic of China through Aug. 5. See the news release for details.
