Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen is in Washington today. Secretary Cohen hosts a full honor arrival ceremony for the president and prime minister of Croatia at 10 a.m. today. See the press advisory for details.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Rudy de Leon is in California today. Deputy Secretary de Leon will speak today on the Base Realignment and Closure process at a conference in Monterey, Calif. See the press advisory for details.

The regular Department of Defense news briefing will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Pentagon briefing studio, room 2E781. The briefer will be Kenneth H. Bacon, assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.

The second DoD Conference on Civilian Education and Professional Development is taking place today and tomorrow in Bethesda, Md. For details see the news release and the conference web page.
