Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates hosts an honor cordon to welcome Japan’s Minister of Defense Yuriko Koike to the Pentagon today at 10:30 a.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance.  Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 9:45 a.m. EDT for escort to the cordon.

 

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England hosts an honor cordon to welcome Lithuania’s Minister of Defense Juozas Olekas to the Pentagon today at 11:15 a.m. EDT.  The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance.  Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 10:45 a.m. EDT for escort to the cordon.

 

Army Col. Chip Preysler, commander of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, will brief live from Afghanistan at 9 a.m. EDT, Aug 8, in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an update on ongoing security and stability operations in eastern Afghanistan.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
