Today in the Department of Defense, Sunday, September 11, 2005 Bookmark and Share



Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeldand Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard Myers will participate in a wreath laying ceremony at Pentagon Group Burial Marker at Arlington Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. EDT. Rumsfeld and Myers will deliver brief remarks before the wreath laying. Following the ceremony, Rumsfeld and Myers will join the Pentagons Freedom Walk in progress. Acting Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England will deliver brief welcoming remarks at 9:30 a.m., at the beginning of the Pentagon's Freedom Walk.

The America Supports You Freedom Walk will begin at 10 a.m. EDT in the Pentagon South Parking lot and will end with a musical tribute by country music star Clint Black at the JFK Hockey Field near the Washington Monument. Participants will begin arriving at the Pentagon around 7:30 a.m. For further details see press advisory.
