Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld has no public or media events on his schedule.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Peter Pace, U. S. Marine Corps, will host the Pentagon ceremony for National POW/MIA Recognition Day at the Mall Entrance Parade Field at 11 a.m. EDT.  Rep. Rob Simmons, chairman of the Homeland Security Intelligence, Information Sharing, and Terrorism Risk Assessment Subcommittee, will be the guest speaker.  See press advisory for details.

Army Lt. Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli, commander of the Multinational Corps-Iraq, will brief live from Iraq at 9 a.m. EDT, Sept. 15, in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an update on ongoing security operations in Iraq.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
