Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates hosts an honor cordon to welcome Canadian Minister of National Defense Peter MacKay to the Pentagon today at 12:30 p.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon Mall Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than noon EDT for escort to the cordon.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England has no public or media events on his schedule.

Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell will conduct a press briefing at 1 p.m. in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579.  Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.

Principal Deputy Inspector General Thomas F. Gimble and Director, Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy and Strategic Sourcing Shay Assad testify on accountability during contingency operations, preventing and fighting corruption in contracting and establishing and maintaining appropriate controls on materiel at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee at 11: 30 a.m. EDT in room 2118 Rayburn House Office Building.

Director of the Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program Dinah Cohen will conduct a demonstration showcasing equipment and technology to assist wounded service members and federal employees with disabilities in the workplace at 2 p.m., Pentagon 2A259.   Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only.  Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification.  Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
