Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta will attend the President’s address to the Joint Session of Congress at 7 p.m. EDT.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta will deliver remarks at the “9/11 Tenth Anniversary Summit Awards Ceremony & Dinner” at 8:30 p.m. EDT at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. The evening is a culmination of a series of events hosted by the Center for National Policy, the Voices of September 11th, the Meridian Institute, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Media interested in covering the event must RSVP to Jonathan Freedman at 646-833-0204.

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn has no public or media events on his schedule.

British Maj. Gen. Phil Jones, director of the Force Reintegration Cell, International Security Assistance Force headquarters, will brief the media live from Afghanistan at 10:15 a.m. EDT, in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973) to provide an update on the Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Program. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.
