Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeldhosts an honor cordon to welcome Iraq's President Jalal Talabani to the Pentagon at 1:15 p.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 12:45 p.m. EDT for escort to the cordon.

Army Brig. Gen. John. P. Basilica Jr., commander of the 256th Brigade Combat Team (Louisiana Army National Guard), currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and assigned to the Multinational Corps-Iraq, will brief live from Iraq at 9 a.m. EDT, Sept. 9, in the DoD Briefing Studio, Pentagon 2E579, to provide an overview of the brigades efforts in the ongoing security operations in Iraq. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
