Ronald T. Keohane

Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy

 

Mr. Ronald T. Keohane served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.  In this capacity, Mr. Keohane oversaw and advocated for programs, policies, planning and resourcing related to the quality of life of Service members and their families worldwide. 

Mr. Keohane was responsible for casualty, mortuary and memorial affairs; military community outreach; child and youth  programs; exceptional family member program; military spouse employment partnership program; morale, welfare and recreation programs; Military One Source; Military and Family Life Counseling program; commissaries and exchanges; family advocacy program; and state liaison initiatives.  

Prior to joining the Department of Defense, Mr. Keohane served the Federal Government, both as a political appointee under President Bill Clinton and from the private sector, providing senior level strategic oversight on defense programs including: military adaptive sports, sexual assault, and education and employment initiatives.  Mr. Keohane brought a critical perspective to the private sector, where he focused on personnel support programs for the Department of Defense. 

After receiving an appointment in President Clinton’s Administration, Mr. Keohane held executive level positions to include Director, Secretariat for Electronic Commerce at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Senior Advisor to the President’s Electronic Commerce Working Group at the White House.  Mr. Keohane was integral in the expansion of the Drug Demand Reduction role within the Department of Defense and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
 
Mr. Keohane has also served as a senior advance staff member, conducting critical logistical and operational oversight in more than 48 countries for two U.S. Presidents and senior government officials, and has utilized this expertise in providing logistical and production support to Mark Burnett Productions and MTV.
 
Mr. Keohane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY.
