Dr. Vipin Narang

Dr. Vipin Narang is the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy, a portfolio that includes space, missile defense, cyber, nuclear and countering weapons of mass destruction policy. He also assists the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy in his roles overseeing space as a warfighting domain, and as the Principal Cyber Advisor to the Secretary of Defense.
Dr. Narang is on public service leave from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is the Frank Stanton Professor of Nuclear Security and Political Science. His key academic works include Nuclear Strategy in the Modern Era (2014) and Seeking the Bomb: Strategies of Nuclear Proliferation (2022).
Dr. Narang holds a Ph.D in Government from Harvard University, B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemical engineering from Stanford University, and an M. Phil in international relations from Balliol College, Oxford University.
