Mr. Williams was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Senate Affairs on January 20, 2021. Prior to appointment, he served as National Security Adviser to U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris (D-CA) and U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL). He was previously an intelligence analyst and watch officer in the Department of Defense. He holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida. He was named to the 2020 LGBTQIA+ Leadership List by Out in National Security and New America.
