Carlie Waibel served as the Principal Deputy to the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs. In this role, she managed operations and strategy for the Department’s public affairs. Prior to her assumption of duties as the PDATSD-PA, Ms. Waibel served as the Chief of Staff for the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.
Ms. Waibel has over a decade of experience working in public affairs, including work in government, politics and the private sector. Prior to her time at the Department, Ms. Waibel served as the Florida communication director for President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. Ms. Waibel previously served as the national press secretary and communications director for U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, as well as communications director for former U.S. Senator Bill Nelson.
Before serving in government, Ms. Waibel managed public affairs for Uber Technologies in New England. Ms. Waibel is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota.
