Dr. Paul G. Zablocky

Director, Multi-Domain Joint Operations Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering

 

Dr. Paul G. Zablocky serves as the Director of Multi-Domain Joint Operations for Mission Capabilities in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.  In this role, he directs an organization whose mission is to accelerate the development and integration of advanced technologies to maintain the United States’ technological superiority on the battlefield.  He is responsible for aligning technology development efforts to operational gaps with the goal of rapidly delivering new warfighting capabilities.

Prior to assuming his current duties, Dr. Zablocky served as a program manager in the Strategic Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.  In this role, he managed a wide range of programs that developed technologies to deliver warfighting capabilities in highly contested environments.  These programs focused on system-of-systems solutions to enable joint operations; robust communications; swarm autonomy; wide-area surveillance of small, unmanned aircraft systems; airspace deconfliction and operations; and low-cost seekers for weapons.

Prior to DARPA, Dr. Zablocky served as the Chief Scientist and Portfolio Director for Artificial Intelligence at the Office of Naval Research, where he managed ONR’s basic and early applied research portfolio and all aspects of its Artificial Intelligence portfolio.  He also served as the Division Director in ONR’s Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare Department, where he was responsible for leading science and technology efforts in support of the United States Marine Corps.  

Prior to joining ONR, Dr. Zablocky served as the Director of the Army’s Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate, the Director of the Army’s Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate, and the Army’s Senior Research Scientist for Electronic Warfare.  In these positions, he provided leadership and guidance in the execution of science and technology programs, development of prototypes, and systems engineering support for numerous Army programs.

Dr. Zablocky holds a Professional Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in both Electrical Engineering and Physics from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
