Mr. Tim Dill is Performing the Duties of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. In this role, he serves as principal advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. He is also Performing the Duties of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, in which role he is the principal advisor to the Secretary of Defense and Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness on all matters related to military and civilian personnel policies, reserve integration, military community and family policy, and total force manpower.
Mr. Dill most recently served as the National Security Advisor to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), where he managed Sen. Cruz’s military, veterans, and foreign policy portfolios and relationships with military installations across Texas. Prior to that, he practiced national security-related law at a law firm in Washington, D.C.
An active-duty Army veteran, Mr. Dill served as an Infantry and Special Forces officer in the 82nd Airborne Division and 3rd Special Forces Group, deploying to Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, and Mauritania. In his final Army assignment, he served as Detachment Commander of Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha (SFODA) 3113.
A native of Akron, Ohio, Mr. Dill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida and a Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration (JD/MBA) dual degree from Duke University.
