Mr. Jimmy Sapp is currently Performing the Duties of the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs while holding the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for House Affairs. With more than a decade of government experience, Mr. Sapp has in-depth knowledge of the Congressional legislative process, public affairs, and Department of Defense and Executive Branch priorities.
In this role, he provides strategic leadership and guidance on all legislative matters related to the Department of Defense.
Most recently working as a Professional Staff Member for the House Judiciary Committee, Mr. Sapp contributed to legislative initiatives on matters related to national security, congressional investigations and policy.
Prior to his work with the House Judiciary Committee, Mr. Sapp served as Partner at a consulting firm in Washington, D.C and previously led Federal Government Relations for a venture capital firm specializing in security solutions and training and technology integration for government and commercial clients.
Mr. Sapp was previously a senior official at the U.S. Department of Justice, advising on management, operations, policy and program issues within the Office of Justice Programs. Additionally, he served in The White House Office of Presidential Personnel, managing national security and international affairs positions.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Sapp held various positions at the Pentagon and worked on numerous successful state and national campaigns as a political and fundraising operative.
Mr. Sapp is a proud alumnus of Troy University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences with a Minor in Psychology.
