Mr. Brendan O’Toole is currently Performing the Duties of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for House Affairs while also serving as the Policy Team Chief within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs. With nearly a decade of government experience, Mr. O’Toole possesses in-depth knowledge of the congressional legislative process, private sector advocacy, and the priorities of the Department of Defense and the Executive Branch.
In this role, he provides strategic leadership and guidance on legislative matters related to Department of Defense policy and U.S. House of Representatives initiatives.
Most recently, in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, Mr. O’Toole provided legislative support on matters related to the Department of Defense’s intelligence and security policies.
Prior to this, Mr. O’Toole supported the Department of Defense and Combatant Commands by delivering AI-driven security solutions and providing legislative support for the Department of the Army’s acquisition and technology development efforts.
Mr. O’Toole previously served as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs and supported the National Security Programs portfolio at the Office of Management and Budget.
Earlier in his career, Mr. O’Toole held various positions in the U.S. House of Representatives and worked to assist U.S. military personnel transitioning to civilian careers.
Mr. O’Toole holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Public Relations from the University of Dayton. He resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife and their son.
