HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The next Boston Area Fraud Working Group will take place Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Lexington Room at the Hanscom Conference Center.

The training will feature three presentations on the following topics: "Making a Federal Procurement Fraud Case," "Illicit Trade; Investigating Counterfeit, Trademark and Counter Proliferations," and “Field Experiences in Counter-Proliferation.”

“Each of these offerings will provide Hanscom acquisition professionals an opportunity to gain insight on fraud-related topics, as well as participate in a question and answer period following each presentation,” said Jenny Carrion, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate acquisition fraud and program counsel. “Each session will be presented by experts in their respective field.”

All government-employee professionals who are involved in the acquisition process, regardless of position or experience level, can attend the upcoming BAFWG.

The BAFWG meets biannually to train the acquisition community on fraud recognition, reporting, hot topics and case studies. The BAFWG also provides a forum for acquisition and law enforcement professionals to discuss trends in procurement fraud.

Following the Boston Area Fraud Working Group meeting, “Fraud 101” will offer those interested a basic overview of the essentials in the acquisition fraud field. This presentation will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Hanscom Conference Center.

“This training will provide Hanscom personnel the opportunity to learn about common procurement fraud indicators, as well as advice on how to proceed when fraud is suspected on Air Force contracts,” said Carrion. “This session is encouraged for contracting personnel, program managers, financial managers, engineers and any other government employee who touches Air Force Materiel Command acquisition programs.”

Officials encourage those interested to sign up through ACQ Now at https://www.atrrs.army.mil/channels/acqnowcl/ by selecting "Boston Area Fraud Working Group Meeting" and/or “Fraud 101” under the CL Event menu.

BAFWG attendees are eligible for two continuous learning points.
