To rebalance the shift in coalition manpower and further transition the role of security from coalition forces to Iraqi Police, the 5th Marine Regiment's 3rd Battalion started the Sisters of Fallujah so that Iraqi women could assist in security operations to search other Iraqi women entering the city through entry control points.
