U.S. Marines patrol in Marja in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Feb. 16, 2010. During the patrol the Marines found a large cache of materials to make improvised explosive devices, which were later destroyed during a controlled detonation. The Marines and Afghan soldiers have been conducting Operation Moshtarak to rid Marja of Taliban presence and intimidation. The Marines are assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment.
