Dignified Transfer An Air Force team carries the remains of Maj. Troy Gilbert from an aircraft at Dover Air Force Base, Del., Oct. 3, 2016. Gilbert was killed Nov. 27, 2006, when his F-16C Fighting Falcon crashed 20 miles northwest of Baghdad. U.S. forces were able to return the F-16 pilot’s remains approximately 10 years after he was killed in combat operations saving the lives of U.S. service members and coalition allies.
