Boodle Fight Philippine and U.S. troops participate in a Boodle Fight at Camp General Ceferino S. Carreon in Calinog, Iloilo, the Philippines, April 27, 2017. A Boodle Fight is a Philippine military tradition, where a big pile of food is served in the middle of a long table in a mess hall where hungry soldiers eat with their hands. This symbolizes camaraderie, brotherhood and equality in the military. The “fight” refers to the act of grabbing and eating as much food as possible before others get it or the food runs out. Balikatan is an annual U.S.-Philippine bilateral exercise focused on humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, counter-terrorism and other military operations. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
