INCREASED SAFTEY Marines from 2nd Platoon, Company D, from the Camp Lejeune, N.C.-based 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, patrol the streets of Rawah, Iraq, a city of roughly 30,000 people, on Jan. 18, 2007. The Marines have been conducting security operations in this area, 150 miles northwest of Baghdad, for the past five months. The increase in safety has allowed more shops and schools to open, as locals work to make what they call a “normal life.” SHARE: Download: Full Size (0.03 MB) Credit: VIRIN: 556218-H-ARI05-710.jpg Photo Gallery
