While on a routine "meet and greet," mission in Iraq, Marines from Regimental Combat Team 5, 23rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Battalion met a family Jan. 22, 2008, who had a two-year-old girl in need of urgent heart surgery. The battalion worked with the Iraqi government, and the U.S. State Department and Department of Homeland Security, to fly the child to a hospital in Nashville, Tenn., where the surgery will be done at no cost.
