'LAST GREAT RACE' Master Sgt. Rodney Whaley, a 56-year-old Tennessee Army National Guardsman, competes in in Alaska's 2008 Iditarod, billed as "The World's Last Great Race," which started March 1, 2008. He is one of only 102 people in the world to qualify for the 1,159-mile race. The Tenneseee Army National Guard sponsored him in the race.
