ON TARGET Army Lt. Gen. Patrick O'Reilly, director of the Missile Defense Agency, briefs reporters at the Pentagon, Dec. 5, 2008, on the successful test of the Ground-based Mid-course Interceptor. In the test, the defending missile, launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., impacted the target missile launched from Kodiak, Alaska. Numerous military assets were involved in the test including two U.S. Navy Aegis ships -- the USS Higgins and Benfold.
