Turkey was one of the eleven nations where Cohen stopped, during his four-day, whirlwind tour of Europe and the Middle East, to discuss planned U.S. - British military action against Iraq. The current crisis was precipitated by Saddam Hussein's refusal to allow United Nations' weapons inspectors to perform their duties. Also attending this meeting are the Turkish Minister of Defense Ismet Sezgin (2nd from right) and the Chief of the Turkish General Staff, Gen. Huseyin Kivrikoglu (3rd from right).
