Adm. Mies briefs reporters on Y2K compliance of DoD Nuclear Systems. Adm. Richard W. Mies, U.S. Navy, commander in chief, U.S. Strategic Command, briefs reporters at the Pentagon on July 22, 1999, on the current status of Department of Defense Nuclear Systems with regard to their being Y2K compliant. Mies said that all of the 486 nuclear systems, which includes both mission-critical and non-mission-critical systems, will be tested and brought into compliance by the end of the year.
