Marcia Triggs (standing) listens as Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld answers her question during a town hall meeting at the Pentagon on Aug. 9, 2001. In addition to taking questions from the audience in the auditorium, military or civilian DoD personnel world-wide could fax or e-mail questions to Rumsfeld from their duty stations. The event was carried live by the American Forces Radio and Television Service and streaming audio was provided on the Defense Department's web site called DefenseLINK. Triggs, a reporter with the Army News Service, wanted to know if Rumsfeld really was considering cutting Army strength by two divisions when the Army's leadership has been requesting more personnel. Rumsfeld prefaced his reply with a broad smile and the comment, "You don't believe everything you read in the press, do you?"
