A U.S. Air Force Global Hawk Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is checked over. A U.S. Air Force Global Hawk Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is checked over at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., on Oct. 28, 2004. The Global Hawk is the first assigned to the 12th Reconnaissance Squadron and will be used to support contingencies around the globe. Cruising at higher than 65,000 feet the Global Hawk is used to provide Air Force and joint battlefield commanders near real-time, high-resolution intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance imagery.
