U.S. Marine Corps assault amphibious vehicles leave the beach of Iwo Jima to return to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) on March 8, 2006. Harpers Ferry, along with the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) and elements of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, visited Iwo Jima to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the famous battle.
