Rodney Whaley, a Tennessee Army National Guardsman, poses for photos with one of his sled dogs in Alaska on March 10, 2008. Whaley will be competing for the upcoming 2008 Iditarod dog sled race, billed as "The World's Last Great Race" in Anchorage, Alaska, which will take him over frozen rivers, jagged mountain ranges, dense forests, desolate tundra and miles of windswept coast.
