More than 900 U.S. sailors from the ship and its air wing will transfer to the USS George Washington (CVN 73) upon the Kitty Hawk's arrival in San Diego, Calif. The Kitty Hawk, which is returning to the U.S. to be decommissioned, is being replaced in Yokosuka, Japan, by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73).
