Tech. Sgt. William Sykes coordinates sandbag drops. U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. William Sykes coordinates sandbag drops with the aircrew of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter at a breeched levee in Myrtle Grove, La., on Sept. 4, 2008. The service members are transporting sandbags from Plaquemines Parish, La., to shore-up the break that is 75 feet wide and 20 feet deep. The break was caused by floodwaters on Sept. 1, 2008, following the landfall of Hurricane Gustav. Sykes is assigned to the 122nd Air Support Operations Squadron, Louisiana Air National Guard.
