The Armed Forces Inaugural Committee carries on a tradition, which dates back more than 200 years, of honoring the new commander-in-chief and recognizing civilian control of the military. The Armed Forces Inaugural Committee is a joint-service organization responsible for providing military ceremonial support to the 56th Presidential Inauguration, which will take place on Jan. 20, 2009.
