Members of a U.S. Navy visit, board, search and seizure team transport Somali children, rescued from a disabled skiff, to the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) in the Gulf of Aden on May 24, 2009. Helicopter pilots from the guided-missile cruiser spotted the skiff in distress while they patrolled the area. The skiff originally was ferrying 52 passengers. The cruiser is deployed as part of the Boxer Expeditionary Strike Group to support maritime security operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
