U.S. Navy sailors enrolled in the basic underwater demolition/SEAL course approach the shore during an over-the-beach exercise at San Clemente Island, Calif., on June 24, 2009. The exercise is designed to prepare SEAL’s for missions that begin in the water before transitioning to land. The students, who are in the third phase of training, are learning weapons tactics, demolition, land navigation and patrolling techniques.
