Andrew Schoenmaker with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment talks with village elders during a shura in the Nawa district of Helmand province, Afghanistan, on Aug. 10, 2009. A shura is a meeting between village elders to discuss any problems or issues the people may have. Marines from 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment are deployed with Regimental Combat Team 3 to conduct counter insurgency operations in partnership with Afghan security forces.
