U.S. Navy SEAL candidates participate in a rock portage exercise. U.S. Navy SEAL candidates from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) class 286 participate in a rock portage exercise at the Naval Special Warfare Training Center in Coronado, Calif., on Nov. 2, 2010. BUD/S is a six-month long course attended by SEAL candidates, who can be members of the U.S. Navy or Coast Guard. The Navy SEALs are the maritime component of U.S. Special Operations Forces, trained to conduct operations from the sea, air and land.
