USS Indianapolis The USS Indianapolis saw heavy battle in the Aleutians, the Gilbert and Marshall Islands, Saipan, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, Tinian, Guam, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The ship was sunk July 30, 1944, after delivering parts of the first atomic bomb.
