Ed Freeman President George W. Bush drapes the Medal of Honor on retired Army Maj. Ed Freeman in the East Room of the White House, July 16, 2001. Freeman was awarded the honor for his actions in 1965 when, as a helicopter pilot, he flew through gunfire more than 20 times during the Battle of Ia Drang to bring supplies to trapped soldiers.
